MUS 3520 - Non-Western MusicA study of the traditional music of China, Japan, Southeast Asia, India and the Arabic countries, as well as of the non-literate cultures around the world, such as American Indian, Australian Aborigine, African, and Micronesian. One or several cultures will be selected for close study and a particular attempt will be made to understand the customs and attitudes of a people through their music. Credits: 4 hours Notes: This course fulfills General Education Area IV: Other Cultures and Civilizations and is approved as a writing-intensive course which may fulfill the baccalaureate-level writing requirement of the student's curriculum.
