ES 3950 - School and Society

This course is concerned with the nature and direction of American education in its changing social context. The course focuses on major issues affecting the advancement of education in a culturally diverse, democratic society. Course content includes inquiry as to how social, historical, political, philosophical, economic, and legal factors influence educational policy and practice. The role of individuals in the change process in education is examined. An interdisciplinary approach is used. This course is approved as a writing-intensive course which may fulfill the baccalaureate-level writing requirement of the student’s curriculum. This course is cross-listed with ED 3950.

Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: Minimum of 70 earned semester credit hours.
