LANG 5580 - Second Language Acquisition and Teaching Required for modern language teaching majors and minors. There will be a dual focus: a theoretical focus on second language acquisition and the ways by which non-native speakers come to acquire a second language; and a practical focus on methods of teaching in a proficiency-oriented program, as well as on the teaching and learning of culture and the pedagogical use of technologies. Students must complete this course before completing directed teaching.
Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: Minimum of four courses, including a language at the 3160 and 3170 level, or equivalent, or instructor approval.
Credits: 3 hours
Notes: May be repeated for credit. Open to Upperclass and Graduate students.
