AVS 3950 - Turbine Engine Theory, Design, and Inspection


Introduces design considerations for aircraft engines focusing on turbine engines - history, theory of operation, types, construction, and nomenclature. Discusses thrust and factors that affect the engine performance. Students will be able to describe and perform engine efficiency and thrust calculations.
This course aligns with the Mechanic ACS according to 14 CFR Part 147.

Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: AVS 1225 and AVS 1910 and AVS 1915 and AVS 1920 and AVS 1925 and AVS 1930 and AVS 1935 and AVS 1940 and AVS 1945 and AVS 1950 and AVS 1955. A grade of “C” or better is required.

Corequisites: AVS 3955

Credits: 2 hours

Restrictions: Aviation Technical Operations major
