The Graduate College offers a wide variety of programs leading to the master’s, specialist, and doctoral degrees.

The Master of Arts is awarded in numerous programs in the following general categories within the College of Education: Career and Technical Education; Counseling Psychology; Counselor Education; Educational Leadership; Educational Technology; Evaluation, Measurement, and Research; Family and Consumer Sciences; Human Resources Development; Literacy Studies; Marriage and Family Therapy; Physical Education; Practice of Teaching; Socio-Cultural Studies of Education; Special Education; and Teaching Children Who Are Visually Impaired.

A number of other programs at Western also lead to the Master of Arts: Anthropology, Applied Economics, Art Education, Communication, Comparative Religion, Earth Science; English, English with an Emphasis on Professional Writing, English with an Emphasis on Teaching, Geography, History, Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Medieval Studies, Orientation and Mobility, Orientation and Mobility with Children, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Science Education, Sociology, Spanish, and Speech Pathology and Audiology.

The University also offers the Master of Science in Accountancy, Applied and Computational Mathematics, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering (Civil, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical), Engineering Management, Exercise and Sports Medicine, Geosciences, Manufacturing Engineering, Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Paper and Imaging Science and Engineering, and Statistics, as well as the Master of Business Administration, Master of International Development Administration, Master of Fine Arts (in Art and in Creative Writing), Master of Music, Master of Public Administration, and Master of Social Work. An accelerated Master of Science program is offered in Mechanical Engineering. In addition, dual Master of Arts programs (leading to two master’s degrees) are available in Rehabilitation Counseling/Teaching and in Teaching Children Who Are Visually Impaired/Orientation and Mobility for Children and joint degree programs are offered in Doctor of Laws and Master of Public Administration, and Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration.

The Specialist in Education is offered in Educational Leadership.
