Telecommunications and Information Management (TIM) is an interdisciplinary and inter-collegial major that will enable students to specialize Computer Information Systems (CIS) and Telecommunications Management. The TIM major prepares students for the top fastest growing occupations projected by the U.D. Department of Labor (www.bls.gov/emp).
This major is offered through the Computer Information Systems program, Department of Business Information, Haworth College of Business (HCob) and the School of Communication (COM), College of Arts and Science. The TIM major is designed to train students in a variety of telecommunications, data communications and information technology, including network operations and security, information assurance, wireless and satellite communication, Internet communication, cable television, telephony, and database management. The program’s mission is to give students a well balanced education in a variety of business and technical management issues.
TIM students (TMBJ) graduating from the Haworth College of Business will receive a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree. Those TIM students (TMLJ) graduating from the College of Arts and Sciences will receive a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree.
Students applying to the TIM major from both the Department of Business Information Systems and the School of Communication must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50 and meet with the appropriate program advisor in either the Department of Business Information Systems or the School of Communication.
Students who complete the pre-business administration curriculum requirements may apply to TIM. Students must meet the following requirements before being admitted.
- Completion of pre-B.B.A. requirements
- Completion of pre-TIM major courses
Students who complete the Pre-TIM major requirements may apply to TIM. To graduate, students must meet all College of Arts and Sciences curriculum requirements. See the Communication advisor for more information.
