PADM 3000 - Foundations of Nonprofit Management


This course examines the nature and major trends of the nonprofit sector in the broader context of shifting the structure and role of governance both in the US and internationally. The course deepens the theoretical and practical understanding of the nature of the nonprofit sector and the way in which nonprofit organizations operate for "common good." The courses will explore the legitimacy and authority of the nonprofit sector to address collective problems inviting both management and policy practitioners for greater clarity in the intersection between managerial practices, public-private partnerships, and relationship building with the public sector and the dynamics of governance. This course satisfies WMU Essential Studies Level 3: Connections – Local and National Perspectives Category. This course also meets the Diversity and Inclusion student learning outcome.

Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisite: PADM 2000 with a grade of "C" or better.
