REL 6011 - Religion, Culture and Health: Cultures from the EastStudy of spirituality, culture, and religion in relation to understanding the body, illness, and health in South and East Asian culture and religion. The course covers the impact of spirituality, religion and culture on health status and health outcomes; the nature and history of religions that originated in South and East Asia; practical application of culturally competent care for patients with East and South Asian cultural/religious beliefs, and; the impact of religious belief, spirituality, and culture on patient and provider relationships, in the context of the healthcare and human services environment in the United States. Note: Open to upper-level undergraduate and graduate students. |
