ANTH 3430 - Cultures of Europe Students are introduced to the anthropology of Europe through a critical reading of selected ethnographies and essays. The importance of nationalism, self-identity and borders in contemporary European politics and social life will be emphasized. Students will also be exposed to literature on subaltern populations such as peasants and small-scale farmers and the political, economic and cultural dynamics to which they are subject.
