PHYS 5620 - Atomic and Molecular Physics This course consists of some applications of quantum mechanics. Topics include the helium atom, multielectron atoms, the Raman, Zeeman, and Stark effects, stimulated emission, transition rates, selection rules, the diatomic molecule, and molecular physics.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: Prerequisite: PHYS 4600 or consent of instructor.
Credits: 3 hrs.
Notes: Open to Upperclass and Graduate Students. The department’s 5000-level courses are offered only to advanced physics majors who have successfully completed all Prerequisite studies.
