CECP 6280 - Foundations of Clinical Mental Health Counseling This course provides an overview of professional clinical mental health counseling including historical perspectives; ethical and legal issues; licensure, certification, and other credentialing; as well as rules and functions of clinical mental health counselors. Students will have opportunities to interact with mental health counselors, assess community mental health needs, and learn about the organization and function of mental health agencies. Additionally, counseling implications for working with racial minority and other disenfranchised groups will also be discussed.
Credits: 3 hours
Notes: Open to Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology Graduate Students only. Graduate students from other programs may enroll by special permission.
