AFS 2230 - African American Literature/Criticism and Culture This course is designed both to introduce students to key issues, themes, and methods in African American literature/criticism and culture as well as to pique interest in an effort to encourage further study of the discipline. It surveys texts by African American authors and examines the relationship between the literature, criticism, and theories serving to explain it.
Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: Either (AFS 2000 or ENGL 1100), and ENGL 1110 and ENGL 2220.
Credits: 3 hours
Notes: This course satisfies General Education Area III: The United States: Cultures and Issues.
