ES 2800 - Human Flourishing and the Pursuit of Happiness This course is designed to address the enduring question “What is Human Flourishing?” Drawing from philosophy, literature and the social sciences, we introduce students to conceptions, visions, and conditions of human flourishing, its changing nature across many periods of Western history, its manifold expressions in contemporary life, and its pursuit in the local community. This course is also an invitation to explore one’s own biases about what it is to flourish and achieve (or at least pursue) happiness.
Credits: 3 hours
Notes: This course satisfies General Education Area II: Humanities. May be repeated for credit.
