ES 2000 - Introduction to U.S. Education This course is designed to explore major issues that have provoked public debate and institutional reform in U.S. education. The purpose of the course is to understand the structures and functions of education through historical, sociological and philosophical perspectives. The course explores the interface between secondary schooling and the social, political, and cultural contexts of education. A major aim of this course is to provide an opportunity for pre-education students to orient themselves to a career in teaching.
