GPS 2150 - Introduction to Ink Ink main components and ink additives. Formulation, manufacturing, quality control, and waste disposal of liquid and paste inks. Ink and color. Relationship between the chemical and physical properties of inks and their printing quality. Working properties of ink. Optical properties of ink. End-use properties of ink. Concepts of rheology and surface energy. Environmental concerns. Water-based, solvent based, UV and EB curable ink chemistries. Inks for impact printing processes. Digital inks.
Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: GPS 1500, CHEM 1100, CHEM 1110, PAPR 1000 and MATH 1180. A minimum grade of “C” is required in all prerequisites.
