SOC 3210 - Behavior and Meaning This course is an introduction to how human behavior and thought is framed by social institutions and cultural practices. Topics may include early socialization, examining the verbal and non-verbal codes for understanding the world, variations in gender roles, expectations and performance, how race and ethnicity influence identity, the damaged self and the impacts of global processes. Emphasis will be placed on a comparative perspective.
Credits: 3 hours
Restrictions: Restricted to majors/minors in sociology or social psychology.
