ANTH 5020 - The Origins of Agriculture An intensive study of the human transition from hunting-gathering to cultivation during the post-Pleistocene period. Topics to be treated include: both archaeological and botanical models to explain these processes; the comparison of agricultural systems in various parts of the world; the geographic distribution and biosystematics of selected cultivars; and the cultural systems which have arisen from the economic foundations of plant domestication.
