FCS 3460 - Nutrition Education and Counseling


Study of the teaching/learning process and individual counseling processes for dietetic professionals employed in non-school settings. Included are interpersonal communications, education skills, interviewing skills, individual counseling techniques, behavioral modification techniques, teaching methods for the delivery of one-on-one instruction and groups and to diverse populations. Evaluation strategies for nutrition information is examined. Counseling practice and classroom teaching practice are emphasized.

Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites:  FCS 2600 and FCS 3150 with a grade of “C” or better in all prerequisites

Credits: 3 hours

Restrictions: Restricted to majors in Nutrition and Dietetics.
