SPAN 1010 - Basic Spanish II

As the continuation of Spanish 1000, Spanish 1010 presupposes an elementary knowledge of vocabulary and basic grammatical structures in the language. The course fosters the further development of all four language skills (i.e., listening, speaking, reading, and writing) as well as basic knowledge about Spanish-speaking cultures. Students will engage in uncomplicated communicative tasks in straightforward social situations by using short messages. They will engage in tasks such as giving personal information, expressing preferences, immediate needs, naming basic objects, as well as a number of common activities. Students will learn major features of the Spanish culture, analyzing connections between products, practices and perspectives. They will distinguish and describe intercultural differences and continuities as they relate to enduring and vital social questions. This course satisfies WMU Essential Studies Level 2: Exploration and Discovery – World Language and Culture Category.
