SPAN 2000 - Intermediate Spanish I

As the continuation of Spanish 1010, Spanish 2000 presupposes an elementary knowledge of vocabulary and basic grammatical structures in the language. The course fosters the further development of all four language skills (i.e., listening, speaking, reading, and writing) as well as in-depth knowledge about Spanish-speaking cultures. The students will engage in communicative tasks in a variety of social situations by using complex messages. They will engage in tasks such as giving personal information, expressing preferences, and describing past and future events. The students will learn major features of the Spanish-speaking cultures, analyzing connections between products, practices and perspectives. They will distinguish and describe intercultural differences and continuities as they relate to enduring and vital social questions. This course satisfies WMU Essential Studies Level 2: Exploration and Discovery – World Language and Culture Category.
