ENVS 4020 - Water & Environmental Justice This course examines environmental justice across high profile arenas of freshwater management and conservation, and at community, regional, and global levels. Topics might include (but are not limited to): water history and development of the maritime Great Lakes; environmental justice and water pollution; Indigenous and western scientific knowledges; ethics and theory in an era of water scarcity; community studies in a freshwater context. The course will also explore how contemporary environmental justice approaches, and the environmental humanities more broadly, have contributed to professional effectiveness and best practices in many environmental fields.
Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: ENVS 2150 with a grade of “C” or better and 6 hours of ENVS coursework at the 3000 level or above; or instructor approval
Credits: 3 hours
