LS 4200 - Literacy Assessment and Instruction


This course focuses on developing teacher candidates’ knowledge, skills, and dispositions around the use of assessment tools for literacy instruction PK-6. Teacher candidates will examine both formative and summative assessments that inform instruction while considering children’s overall literacy development and literacy standards. By doing so, teacher candidates will understand that literacy instruction is an iterative cycle of assessment, teaching, and reflection.

Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisite: LS 4150 with a grade of “CB” or better and Junior or Senior status.

Corequisite: LS 4210

Credits: 2 hours
