AVS 2915 - Aircraft Metallic Structures Lab Discusses inspection of metal structures, focusing on sheet metal defects and the process of sheet metal repairs. Presents the types and procedures for weld repairs, including welding components, purpose, and techniques. Emphasizes safety practices, precautions for sheet metal repairs and fabrications, and proper storage and handling of welding gases. Students will be able to complete the process of sheet metal repairs, starting with a selection of sheet metal material, repair design, layout, forming, drilling of sheet metal components, and installation and removal of rivets and fasteners.
This course aligns with the Mechanic ACS according to 14 CFR Part 147
Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: AVS 1910 and AVS 1915 and AVS 1920 and AVS 1925 and AVS 1930 and AVS 1935 and AVS 1940 and AVS 1945 and AVS 1220. A grade of “C” or better is required for all prerequisites.
Corequisites: AVS 2910
