GPS 4100 - Printability Analysis I


Course deals with traditional and digital printing processes, their major features, and discusses how they are measured and recognized. Ink characteristics, and printing process parameters are evaluated. Ink and substrate compatibility for successful print is discussed. Relationships between substrates and  inks in particular printing processes is assessed and resulting print quality is measured. Main techniques of printability evaluation will include modern optical methods of light interaction with both printed and unprinted substrate, spectrophotometry, and image analysis.

Prerequisites & Corequisites: Prerequisites: GPS 1500 with a grade of “C” or better

Credits: 3 hours
