ANTH 1500 - Human Biocultural Diversity

This course is a broad survey of the anthropological study of human biological variation in modern populations. We will examine from a biocultural perspective how human populations have evolved and adapted to life in diverse environments (e.g., tropics, high altitude, arctic). We will explore the biological and social meanings of human racial variation, as well as the historical development of race in modern societies. This course satisfies WMU Essential Studies Level 2: Exploration and Discovery – Science and Technology Category. This course also meets the Diversity and Inclusion student learning outcome.
