MUS 2220 - Computer Music Design This course focuses on the design and creation of laptop-based musical instruments for real-time performance. Prior knowledge of music theory (e.g., pitch and rhythm) or computer programming (e.g., classes, data types, control structures) is not required, but both will be utilized throughout the course. Students will analyze the components, processes, and interfaces of natural acoustic instruments; designing models for simulating these kinds of musical systems on a computer; and implementing these designs using a concurrent, time-based, procedural audio programming language. This course satisfies WMU Essential Studies Level 1: Foundations - Quantitative Literacy Category.
