BIOS 5590 - Neurobiology The substrate of behavior will be examined in this interdisciplinary survey of neural structure and function across molecular, cellular and system levels. There will be a strong emphasis on underlying mechanisms in different animal models. Lecture and discussion will be integrated and supplemented by demonstrations. Topics covered will include: membrane biophysics, synaptic physiology, transduction and signaling in the visual, auditory, chemical and somatosensory systems, reflexes, simple behavior and plasticity.
Note: Open to upper-level undergraduate and graduate students.
