FCS 6410 - Advances in Youth and Community Development This course surveys advances and innovations in youth development and related family services. It explores the history and policy landscape of the field, introduces leadership and governance practices, and reviews the current state of practice in youth-serving settings and the out-of-school hours. It is grounded in prevention science and the assumption that communities thrive when children and families flourish. This course is designed to promote leadership skills and competencies for youth development and family services professionals. Students will examine advances in programs and practices through engagement with local youth-serving settings and organizations serving youth and families.
