HOL 5650 - Health and Wellness Coaching Skills This coaching skills course builds upon HOL 5321, which introduces the foundational concepts of health and wellness coaching. Clear distinctions will be drawn between health and wellness coaching and psychotherapy, as well as other helping models. Related professional organizations and ethical codes regulating the coaching profession will be reviewed, along with the preparatory information for pursuing the national board certification for health and wellness coaching. Guidance and encouragement for integrating coaching skills into related professional roles will also be provided. This course is highly experiential and will emphasize the professional development of specific coaching skills and approaches to health and wellness behavioral change.
Note: Open to upper-level undergraduate and graduate students.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: Prerequisites: HOL 5321 and HOL 5360 (May be taken concurrently; a grade of “B” or better is required)
Credits: 3 hours
