HOL 5604 - Yoga Theory and Practice This course will focus on the theoretical and experiential foundations of the yogic tradition, which consists of physical movements, breathing practices, and philosophies practiced as part of the traditional medicine of India. Research and theory on the benefits of yoga for physical and mental health issues will be explored, as well as the literature supporting the benefits of yoga in personal and professional contexts. Both formal yoga practices, as well as the informal application of the underlying philosophy, will be explored and applied. This class utilizes experiential physical activities, guided readings, and reflective learning as well as focused, scholarly study of this contemplative practice and tradition.
Note: Open to upper-level undergraduate and graduate students.
