SWRK 6365 - Trauma in Sexual and Gender Minorities This course explores the issues connected with sexual and gender minority populations and the types of trauma that are common within this population. Students will learn the differences between the various sexual and gender minority populations. Students will understand the history and the early context of criminalization and mental illness models and how to work with current Evidence Based Practices (EBPs) as well as understand some trauma-specific assessments and interventions for use with the population. Students will explore the challenges and sources of trauma for these minorities that they may experience early in their lives or across their lifespan. Students will acquire an orientation to best practices for working with individuals from these minority populations.
Prerequisites/Corequisites: Prerequisite: Enrollment in graduate program or instructor approval.
