The Department of Marketing in the Haworth College of Business is the largest academic unit on WMU’s campus. The department offers four majors: (1) marketing, (2) advertising and promotion, (3) food and consumer package goods marketing, (4) sales and business marketing and two interdisciplinary majors: (1) digital marketing and ecommerce with the Department of Business Information systems and (2) integrated supply management with the College of Engineering. In addition, the department offers minors in advertising and promotion, integrated supply chain management and in marketing.

Program Requirements

Course requirements for each of the majors and minors can be found under each program. Course prerequisites are listed after the course descriptions. Any deviations from these course requirements and prerequisites must have the written approval of the department chairperson.

Advising for majors and minors takes place in the Haworth College of Business Office of Academic Advising and Admissions. Students are also encouraged to discuss majors, minors and elective choices with faculty members in their areas of interest.

Applying for a minor

To be eligible to apply for a minor, a student must have completed a minimum of 56 credit hours with an overall WMU grade point average of at least 2.50. However, meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission into either minor, as the Department of Marketing receives far more minor applications than it has the capacity to accept.
