Knowledge of medieval and premodern culture is essential to an understanding of modern culture. The Medieval Institute was established by the University to develop and coordinate interdisciplinary programs in Medieval Studies and related areas. In addition to an undergraduate minor, the Institute offers a graduate program leading to an M.A. in medieval studies.
