Mission and Vision:
The Graduate College, the institution’s primary advocate for graduate student, develops and improves the environment for graduate education at WMU by providing leadership in shaping graduate policy and integrating services that recruit, retain, support and graduate a diverse population of students.

The Graduate College aspires to be the center of graduate education at WMU with impactful services and programs that advance the academic success and well-being of all graduate students to prepare them for productive careers.

Goals:
To provide leadership and advocacy in support of graduate education at WMU, the Graduate College has the following strategic goals: provide quality service to prospective and current graduate students, alumni, graduate program faculty and staff and university leadership; increase the diversity of students admitted to and graduating from WMU; assist graduate programs with enrollment management; support and promote graduate student achievement in research and creative scholarship; support and promote graduate student academic success, degree completion and career readiness through improved mentoring, support and professional development opportunities.

Graduate Degrees Offered:
An Accelerated Graduate Degree Program (AGDP) allows eligible WMU students the opportunity to complete both an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in less time because the student may begin taking graduate courses while still an undergraduate. During their senior year of their undergraduate careers, students in the accelerated program may substitute up to 12 credit hours of graduate course work for undergraduate course work. Once they enter graduate school, they’re able to quickly move through their master’s degree requirements because they’ve already taken several graduate classes.
