The Graduate College offers a wide variety of programs leading to the master’s, specialist, and doctoral degrees.
The Master of Arts is awarded in numerous programs in the following general categories within the College of Education: Career and Technical Education; Counseling Psychology; Counselor Education; Educational and Professional Development; Educational Leadership; Educational Technology; Evaluation, Measurement, and Research; Family and Consumer Sciences; Human Resources Development; Marriage and Family Therapy; Physical Education; Socio-Cultural Foundations and Educational Thought; Special Education; and Teaching Children Who Are Visually Impaired.
A number of other programs at Western also lead to the Master of Arts: Anthropology, Applied Economics, Art, Art Education, Communication, Comparative Religion, English, Geography, History, Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Medieval Studies, Orientation and Mobility, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Rehabilitation Teaching, Science Education, Sociology, Spanish, Speech Pathology and Audiology, Teaching of Geography, and Teaching of Music.
The University also offers the Master of Science in Accountancy, Applied Mathematics, Biological Sciences, Biostatistics, Chemistry, Computational Mathematics, Computer Science, Earth Science, Engineering (Civil, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical), Engineering Management, Geology, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Operations Research, Paper and Imaging Science and Engineering, and Statistics, as well as the Master of Business Administration, Master of Development Administration, Master of Fine Arts (in Art and in Creative Writing and in Performing Arts Administration), Master of Music, Master of Public Administration, and Master of Social Work. In addition, dual Master of Arts programs (leading to two master’s degrees) are available in Counselor Education/Rehabilitation Teaching and in Special Education/Orientation and Mobility.
The Specialist in Education is offered in Educational Leadership.
The Doctor of Education is offered in Special Education, and the Doctor of Audiology is also offered.
