The Geosciences and Physics Departments offer a program of study leading to a major in geophysics. Students choosing this program of study are also required to take mathematics courses which correspond to a minor in mathematics. Students contemplating a geophysics major should contact the Geosciences Department as early as possible for advising.

Major Core: (39 to 40 hours)
Geosciences (GEOS) (22 hours)
Physics (PHYS) (17 to 18 hours)
Electives: (9 to 12 hours)
Three electives from upper-level geosciences, physics, and engineering courses to be chosen with consent of advisor (9-12 hours). Required Mathematics Minor (19 hours)
Baccalaureate Writing Requirement
Students who have chosen the Geophysics major will satisfy the Baccalaureate Writing Requirement by successfully completing one of the following courses: Required Supporting Courses (4 hours)
