Master of Arts in Counselor Education: Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling (60 hours)

The curriculum is designed to meet the academic guidelines for Licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in Michigan.
The curriculum is also designed to meet the academic guidelines for Licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Michigan. LMFT internship requires an eight continuous months duration and accruing a total of 300 direct client contact hours, with half (150 hours) with couples or families, and one hour of supervision for every five hours of direct client contact.
The program is not accredited at this time, but is designed to meet the CACREP 2009 standards for a 60-hour specialty program in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling.

Program Courses in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling
Choose Two of the Following (6 hours):
Supervised Clinical Practice
- CECP 6120 - Counseling Practicum Credits: 4 hrs.
Requires membership in a group for a minimum of 10 hours prior to CECP 6120, Counseling Practicum. The student must present written verification of group membership with the application for CECP 6120. 25 additional hours of field experience during CECP 6120, Couseling Practicum; a minimum of 10 of the 25 hours must be in group leadership. - CECP 6130 - Field Practicum Credits: 2-6 hrs.
CECP 6130 is a 600-clock hour supervised placement in a field setting. Weekly 1.5 hours of group supervision with designated CECP staff during CECP 6130, Field Practicum.
Elective (1 hour)
