In order to complete an American Chemical Society certified major, the following would be the expected minimum schedule of chemistry and prerequisite courses:

Students electing to enroll in CHEM 3550 must also complete an additional 3 or 4 hour 5000-level chemistry elective, or an appropriate mathematics or physics course, as approved by the Chemistry advisor. Students may replace Introductory Biochemistry lecture and lab (CHEM 3550 and CHEM 3556) and 5000-level elective with Biochemistry I lecture and lab (CHEM 5500 and CHEM 5510) together with Biochemistry II lecture (CHEM 5540): |
