Study abroad is strongly encouraged. Pre-approved study abroad credits can be taken as part of the required or elective hours.
Students pursuing a Chinese language initial teaching certification must study abroad and must enroll in the College of Education and Human Development’s Post-Baccalaureate program after completion of their undergraduate degree. As part of that program, they must complete LANG 6580 - Second Language Acquisition and Teaching. The prerequisites for enrollment in LANG 6580 include a minimum score of Intermediate-High on the Oral Proficiency Interview exam. Please consult the College of Education’s revised secondary education guidelines for more information.
