The Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Education major is designed to prepare teachers for family and consumer science-related subjects in middle, junior and senior high schools. The student must complete the major in Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Education. No minor is required.

Vocational Certification is not required.
Students who want to earn a Standard CTE Teaching Certificate to teach Family and Consumer Sciences at a Career and Technical Center, must complete 4,000 hours of recent (within 10 years) and relevant work experience in addition to the requirements listed above. Some of the work experience can be completed as part of the undergraduate degree. See a College of Education and Human Development advisor or faculty program coordinator for more information.
