Western Michigan University offers the premier food and consumer packaged goods marketing major in the United States. With very few exceptions, our heavily recruited graduates are all employed within three months of graduating, and are supported by faculty with over 100 combined years of industry experience, an active and engaged Industry Advisory Board, a highly active registered student organization (RSO) called the Food Marketing Association, the top Food Marketing Conference in the industry, and the Food Industry Research and Education (FIRE) Center.

The food and consumer packaged goods marketing major at WMU is part of a larger group of universities and colleges who focus on this major, through the Food Industry University Coalition.  The major offers an accredited Category Management program, which allows students to pursue certification in Category Management, as well as InContext Virtual Reality space planning tools.

As an integral part of producing a well-rounded student, the major offers recruiting mixers with potential employers, study abroad experiences in Germany, Thailand, and Dominican Republic, an annual two-week industry tour around the Great Lakes Region, competition on multiple global and national stages, required internships, a multitude of networking opportunities, and annual scholarship opportunities in excess of $100,000.
