Graduate Certificate Program in Embedded System Design (ESDC)

The Embedded System Design: Computer Engineering Graduate Certificate (CEGC) is an online program concentrating in the growing field of embedded systems applications. This certificate is comprised of five courses (15 hours) offered by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Three core courses (9 hours) are required along with two elective courses (6 hours) to complete the certificate.

Students working toward the certificate must be admitted to the CEGC program. Students must have a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or either a bachelor’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering with suitable prerequisite courses and/or professional experience. Students with other bachelor’s degrees and with suitable professional experience will also be considered.

The graduate certificate will be taken completely online. At least one core course and one elective will be available fully online every spring and fall semester. Online lectures will be conducted either in asynchronous or synchronous online mode or HyFlex when possible. Labs for online courses will be conducted in synchronous online mode. For online labs, students are required to provide all laboratory equipment and supplies needed to complete the assignments, which may include platform boards, parts, measurement instruments, plant models and programs, etc.

Graduate credit toward an MSE degree in electrical or computer engineering is earned for all classes completed with a grade B or better.
