(A) Biology Track (34-39 hours)
In addition to the required cognate courses, the Biology track consists of a minimum of 34 credits of biological sciences courses. This course work includes four introductory courses, three intermediate level courses, and three advanced interest courses, including at least one capstone experience. Only three credit hours may be BIOS 4980 and/or BIOS 5991.
(B) Biology Secondary Education Track (42-44 hours)
The Biology Secondary Education track is designed to prepare students to teach in the areas of biological and environmental sciences in middle and high schools (grades 7-12). A second major in Integrated Science, or minor in another area of science (chemistry, earth science, physics) or math is strongly recommended.
Note: Successful completion of this track prepares students for graduate-level work leading to teaching certification, but does not fulfill all requirements for teaching certification. Please consult the College of Education’s revised secondary education guidelines for more information.
