Social Studies: Geography Minor (GSON)

The Social Studies: Geography (coordinate minor) requires the course of study indicated below. Students must complete the Social Studies major to fulfill the requirements of this minor. This minor requires 21-24 hours.

Required Core (12-13 hours)

GEOG 2650 - Our Digital Earth: An Introduction to Geospatial Technologies Credits: 3 hours
GEOG 3110 - Geography of Michigan Credits: 3 hours
GEOG 3800 - North American Borders Credits: 3 hours

Select either:

Since GEOG 1050 or GEOG 2050 is required for the Social Studies Major, the other course not already taken will be required for the Geography minor - Social Studies major.

GEOG 1050 - Physical Geography Credits: 4 hours
GEOG 2050 - Human Geography Credits: 3 hours

Additional Courses (9 hours)

Beyond the required core, the Geography Teaching Minor requires three additional courses in Geography at or above the 2000-level for a total of 24-25 hours.
