Thirty hours that must include:

• LAT 1000 - Basic Latin I Credits: 4 hours
• LAT 1010 - Basic Latin II Credits: 4 hours
• LAT 2000 - An Introduction to the Study of Latin Literature Credits: 4 hours

• (or equivalent)

Plus a minimum of two of the following:

• LAT 2010 - Latin Composition Credits: 4 hours
• LAT 2030 - Cicero Credits: 4 hours
• LAT 2040 - Vergil Credits: 4 hours
• LAT 3240 - Latin Literature Credits: 4 hours
• LAT 5600 - Medieval Latin Credits: 3 hours

Remaining hours from LAT classes not taken above and/or:

• CLAS 1500 - Classical Greek and Roman Mythology Credits: 3 hours
• CLAS 2500 - Power and Morality Credits: 3 hours
• CLAS 3750 - Classics in Global Perspective Credits: 3 hours
• GREK 1000 - Basic Greek I Credits: 4 hours
• GREK 1010 - Basic Greek II Credits: 4 hours

Teaching Certification

Students pursuing a Latin language initial teaching certification must enroll in the College of Education and Human Development’s Post-Baccalaureate program after completion of their undergraduate Latin degree. As part of that program, they must complete LAT 6570 - Teaching Latin. Please consult the College of Education’s revised secondary education guidelines for more information.
