Long-Term Care Administration Minor (LCAN)
Return to: Departments and Programs
The Long-Term Care Administration minor teaches students the skills and knowledge needed to oversee the daily operations of a nursing facility, adult day care, home care organization or assisted living facility. Coursework covers Federal regulations for all nursing facilities in the United States and guidelines for successful management of all types of long-term care services. Students in the minor are encouraged to complete an internship in a long-term care organization. If this is not available in the student’s major, students should work with the program coordinator to gain this experience through an independent study course. Successful completion of this minor meets the educational requirements for students to pursue licensure as a nursing home administrator in the State of Michigan. Requirements for nursing home administrator licensure vary by state.
