Graduate Certificate Program in Financial Technology (FNTC)


The overarching goal of the Graduate Certificate Program in Financial Technology is to provide students with a strong foundation in finance, financial models and analytical methods, financial technology and tools, business data analytics and train them to apply their analytical skills in making informed decisions and determining what financial technology tools are appropriate to employ. Students learn skills to acquire, analyze and manage financial data with the use of relevant financial technology. The program emphasizes the application of advanced analytical modeling to analyze various forms of financial data in making business and financial decisions.

The Graduate Certificate Program in Financial Technology requires foundation prerequisites. In order to provide students with the background of the common body of knowledge in business and administration, study in the areas of Math, Accountancy, Economics, Finance, and Statistics are required before admission. These requirements are fulfilled if the applicant completed an undergraduate business degree or if the applicant completed an equivalent course.

Students without undergraduate equivalent course work have three options to fulfill these prerequisite.
1) current graduate or undergraduate course offerings at WMU, another university, or community college;
2) taking and passing competency exams, if available; or
3) online courses. Approval for prerequisite proficiency will be determined on a course-by-course basis.

15 hours are required for the completion of this certificate.
