Sports Coaching Minor (SPCN)

The Department of Human Performance and Health Education offers a minor in Sports Coaching which is designed to enable students to develop knowledge and skills that sports coaches should possess. By completing the program, students have an opportunity to earn Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) coaching certificates.

REQUIRED COURSES:

HPHE 1540 - Scientific Foundations of Strength and Conditioning Credits: 3 hours
HPHE 1810 - First Aid and CPR Credits: 2 hours
HPHE 2350 - Theory of Coaching Credits: 3 hours
HPHE 3350 - Advanced Theory of Coaching Credits: 3 hours
HPHE 3600 - Sport and Performance Psychology: Mental Training for Peak Performance Credits: 3 hours
HPHE 4000 - Field Experience/Internship in HPHE Credits: 1 to 8 hours (2 hours required)
TOTAL: 16 hours
