Urban, Regional and Environmental Planning Major (UREJ)

The Urban, Regional and Environmental Planning major prepares students to be professional planners, who have strong foundations in the theory and practice of urban, regional, and environmental planning. Prospective students will complete 32 hours of core and elective courses in planning, geography, and other related disciplines that will equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to function as successful planners. Students will also have the opportunity to pick a minor that will complement their future career goals as planners.

Electives (8 hours)


The remaining 8 hours may be selected from 2000-level and above geography courses as approved by the Department of Geography undergraduate advisor.

Accelerated Graduate Degree Program


Students in this major are eligible for the department’s Accelerated Graduate Degree Program (AGDP). Interested students should consult WMU’s Graduate Catalog and, in their sophomore or early junior year, contact the department for details.
