The School of Theatre and Dance offers a 15 credit-hour Certificate Program in Music Theatre Performance. Intended to provide non-music theatre majors with the opportunity to build skills as singers, dancers and actors, this program will be offered in a two-summer semester progression. Classes will primarily be studio in-person learning with one class as an online offering. Classes include acting, dance, voice, performance analysis, and a music theatre performance workshop to blend all of these skills together.
The Music Theatre Performance Certificate will prepare students to utilize performance skills in a variety of professional and academic fields. 15 hours of foundational and core courses focus on required skills: technical singing and repertory, technical jazz dance and styles, acting, performance in music theatre uniting all above disciplines, analysis of professional performance.
